New “pinterest” site for guys

Four days ago, feeling unwelcome on the latest trending site in social networking Pinterest (which has an 80% female user rate) two recently engaged men, Brandon Harris and Michael Byrne launched a new Pinterest-like site for guys.  The site is called Dart It Up and has many features to strongly attract male users.  First off, the site’s motto is “share and save cool sh*t,” whereas Pinterest boasts a more clean and proper reputation.    The new site functions the same way as its feminine predecessor, and has many boards where users can “dart” things that interest them.  Instead of boards like “hair and beauty” and “holidays,” the site features things like “mancave”.  Again, like Pinterest, Dart It Up has icons where users can “like” posts and “redart” things that they are interested in as well.

A creative addition to this new social networking site however, is its “challenge boards” where users can dart things relating to a particular topic like “Life or Death: things a man can’t live without” and whoever gets the most “likes” or “repins” gets put into the “hall of fame.”  The addition of competition invites male appeal.

New features like links to Facebook and Twitter are on the way, as well as an app where users can “dart” on the go.

Only time will tell what success the future holds for this new social networking site, but considering the popularity of Pinterest and the male-attracting features Dart It Up offers, I foresee reasonable fortune.

Check it out for yourself!!

About madie m.

Hello, my name is Madie. I'm a born and raised Norfolkian, took the popular public school route, (Larchmont Elementary , Blair Middle, Maury High) and am currently finishing up my Second year at the University of Virginia. In Charlottesville I am involved in many media extracurricular activities including writing for the Arts and Entertainment section of UVa's Cavalier Daily and a morning news broadcaster on one of the area's most popular radio stations, 92.7 KISS FM. I am currently majoring in French and Economics at the University and minoring in Media Studies. I love learning about the happenings of new technologies as well as new music. I think it's incredibly important that we all keep up to date with the rapid developments of the technological world so as not to find ourselves lost in the dust. But if you're not into searching the tech sections of news sites and other sites like and, no worries, that's what I'm here for. Just check out my latest "digital trend" and you should be safe. Apart from the music and tech scene, I enjoy running, practicing yoga, cooking French cuisine, and doing whatever else might give me a laugh on any given day!
